New Edinburg Column for July 25

Psalm 119 1-4 "1Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. 2Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.  3They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways. 4Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently."
Prayer list this week includes: Emily Jones, Max and Lorene Dyer, Frank and Agnes McClellan, Bobby Brwn, Sue McClellan, Leonard Huddleston, David McClellan, Ollie Moring, the Ricky McClellan family, the Gene Briant family.  Jim Granderson is in the hospital in Fordyce with excessive fluid in his body; he and his family would appreciate visits from friends.
Birthdays this week: Doug Thompson (July 24), Aubrey Huddleston (July 25). Joey Posey (July 26), and Cristy Cathey (July 30).  Happy belated birthday to Tully McCoy (July 20).
Happy anniversary wishes to Shelly and Jeremy Grider (July 24).
The latest meeting for organization of the big Last Ten Reunion was Sunday afternoon.  In attendance this time were Annette Luff, Connie Shaw, Steve Queen and myself.  The biggest hurdle right now is locating a few students who have drifted off.  The final meeting will be August 7 at 3pm. The Last Reunion is for anyone who graduated from 1975 to 1985 at NEHS.  The reunion itself will be September 17th from 4:30pm to 8pm at in the school cafeteria.
Thanks from me to: Randy Linzy, Steven Linzy, James Jackson, Tim Shaw, and Logan Shaw.
There is a rumor afloat that the New Edinburg Post Office will not fold into Kingsland Post Office.  Let it be so.

The rest of this column is about Macedonia FWB church, like it or not.  They're in revival this week until Wednesday night with Brother Keith Hatton preaching.  I got a taste of his preaching Sunday morning; I attended and ate delicious potluck lunch with the congregation afterwards. There will be a bridal shower for Dakota Moring and Stephanie Hackney on August 6 in the fellowship hall at 6pm.  Lastly, Donnie Knight donated $100 to Macedonia's youth group.

Psalm 119:21-23 "21Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments. 22Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.  23Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes. "

Birthdays this week include: Belinda Langford (July 17),  Angela Dickman (July 18),  James Shepherd (July 18), Teresa Hibbard (July 18), Leona Thompson (July 18), and Karen Thompson (July 18), Leona Thompson (July 18), Hayley Nutt White (July 20),  Jared Davis (July 20), Maggie Sanders (July 20), Mary Ann Morgan (July 20), Lorene King Baswell (July 20), Ethel Dyer (July 22), Jean Parrott (July 22), Daniel Thompson (July 23) and Michael Herring (July 23).  A belated happy birthday goes to Kade Weaver (July 6). If that isn't enough, I may have missed some others this time around, but computer problems ate my calendar software which I'm trying to restore.

Anniversary good wishes: Marnell and Marshall Parker (July 21).

The Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church's VBS closing program was held last Friday night with great attendance and was reported to be a real blessing.   Cottage prayer meetings there were Monday through Wednesday nights of this week, and Revival will begin next Sunday morning with Brother Keith Hatton. The Sunday night service will be at 6 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday nights will begin at 7 p.m.  Everyone is invited to attend.

The Last Decade Reunion for NEHS is still in planning; the next planning meeting will be in the cafeteria at the West Saline Community Center at 2 pm on July 24. The reunion itself is tentatively set for September 17th from 4:30pm to 8pm in the same place.  Anyone who graduated from NEHS from 1975 to 1985 is encouraged to attend.

Jimmy and Michelle Reaves were in Canada for a couple of weeks due to the death of Michelle's father.

Tully and Norma McCoy are being visited by their grand daughter Amberlee from Tennessee.

Last Wednesday was eventful, to say the least.  That afternoon saw sweltering conditions produce a thunderstorm that dumped varying amounts of rain; I received 4.5 inches while those south of town received 1.5 inches or so.  Lightning from the storm struck the home of Garlene Chancellor on Briant Road; the resulting fire destroyed the building and her automobile. An eyewitness said the fire spread quickly and the home was wholly engulfed before County Line Fire Department could get there.

Incidentally, I learned through the grapevine that an anonymous reader complained I never put any church news in this column but Macedonia's news. That would be because that church's members bother to let me know what's going on. At the end of each and every column, I put my contact information. If it isn't printed here, it's because you didn't send it in like a normal person would. I can't read minds.
