The New Edinburg Museum will be open this Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 5pm and is located in one room of the West Saline Community Center (NEHS school building). Everyone is welcome to come by. Admission is free. NEHSers are doubly welcome. This weekend, three excellent ladies donated reading material and pics to the Museum: Mary Jane Attwood gave several books that belonged to Jim and Mary Ellen Granderson, Barbara Word Milburn donated several text books that once belonged to the New Edinburg Schools (including a couple of 1st grade readers that I remember... which should tell you how old they really are), and Becky Morgan Cheney gave copies of several pictures of the Bryant family along with picture frames. Many thanks to all three ladies for expanding your town's museum.

If you're interested in joining the department and receiving training as a fire fighter, contact Randy or Steven Linzy or any firefighter in the area as soon as possible. There's a plague of armchair fire chiefs in the area who like to criticize the NEFD but can't quite seem to find the guts to show up, suit up, and school us on how it's done. Now's the time to demonstrate what you're made of.

We're coming close to the “Last Ten Year Reunion” which will be on Oct. 8. from 4pm to 8:30pm in the West Saline Community Center cafeteria. It revolves around the classes of 1975 to 1985, the last ten senior classes of NEHS, but is completely open to anyone who attended NEHS at any time. The meal will be potluck. New Edinburg Column for September 12

Then Job answered the LORD, and said, 2 I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee. 3 Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. 4 Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. 5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.” (Job 42:1-5KJV)

Prayer list this week includes: William Rice, Bobbie Moseley, the family of Buddy Reaves, the family of Jewell St. John.

The Fire Department held a night time drill this past Monday at the West Saline Community Center. The first two weeks of October will be scheduled for basic Intro and protective gear classes in the evenings at the station. If you're interested in joining the department and receiving training as a fire fighter, contact Randy or Steven Linzy or any firefighter in the area as soon as possible.

A reminder: there is some mix up as to where our fire department's boundaries of responsibility begin and end. Those living on the Russell Road up to and including the residence of Bobby McKinney fall under the New Edinburg Fire Department and that's where your dues should be mailed.

There will be a bridal shower for Sara Huddleston Hannah and Timothy Hannah next Sunday afternoon, Sept. 18th at 2:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Macedonia FWB Church.

The Last Ten Year Reunion will be on Oct. 8. from 4pm to 8:30pm in the West Saline Community Center cafeteria. It revolves around th ( classes of 1975 to 1985, the last ten senior classes of NEHS, but is completely open to anyone who attended NEHS at any time. The meal will be potluck.

The New Edinburg Museum will be open this Sunday afternoon from 1pm to 5pm and is located in one room of the West Saline Community Center (NEHS school building). Everyone is welcome to come by. Admission is free.

I've been asked to pass this along: there has been some gasoline stolen from a few residences across the countryside this summer. Whoever is taking it, please stop.

The board meeting for Shady Grove Cemetery will be Oct. 2 at 2pm at First Methodist Church in town. Anyone who has an interest in Shady Grove Cemetery is invited to attend.

If you have items of interest you'd like to see here, please get them to my by Monday night for appearance in that week's column. Go Eagles.

It revolves around the classes of 1975 to 1985, the last ten senior classes of NEHS, but is completely open to anyone who attended NEHS at any time. Let me repeat that: anyone who attended or taught at NEHS at any time is welcome through the doors. The meal will be potluck.

Ms. Ava Kasich will appear at the annual “Just Us Girls” program at Kingsland Missionary Baptist Cuhrch at 10am on September 10th.

Thanks goes to Mrs. Becky (Morgan) Cheney who donated her late sister Karen's 1956 yearbook to the New Edinburg Museum. That leaves the collection lacking the NEHS 1952 yearbook. If you have a copy of any yearbook you'd like to donate, please let me know.

If you have items of interest you'd like to see here, please get them to me by Monday night for appearance in that week's column.
