Hebrews 10:35-36 "35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise."
Birthdays this week include: Judy Simmons, Melvin Jackson, Odus Clary - Sept. 26, Debbie Sanders - Sept. 29.
Fall has fallen... finally and thankfully.
I found out only
yesterday of the passing of Kermit C. Moss back in July. I honestly had
not heard the news, but am saddened to hear it. Mr. Moss graduated
from New Edinburg High School and went on to found the department of
Business at what is now UAM.
Also, in regards to UAM, our former basketball coach Gene Franklin will be inducted into UAM's Sports Hall of Fame next month.
The West Saline
Community Center's next board meeting will be Monday, October 1 at 6pm.
We're rompin' and stompin' with projects for the down months, so if you'd like to help, come on in.
If you have stuff you want in this column, please get it to me
before Monday for inclusion in that week's column. Go Eagles.

September 17th Edition
"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour." Ephesians 5:1-2 KJV
Prayer list this week includes: the family of Buddy Hall and the family of Alice Watkins.
Birthdays this week include: Linda Knight and Tony Atkins - Sept. 20, Paula Splawn - Sept. 21
We're getting some more rain this week followed by those Fall temps right on the money. Fall begins Friday and already the deer hunters are piling in. Bow hunters: play it safe this year.
We lost two members of our Community last week. Alice Watkins left to be with her Maker, as did Marvin "Buddy" Hall. Take time to express your condolences to both families. A lot of people didn't know that Buddy earned the Bronze Star in WWII for saving his ship by shooting down a Kamikaze pilot.
West Saline Community Center gained a propane tank this past week in pace with its kitchen renovation program.

Sept. 9th Edition
"4 And
even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I
have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you." --- Isaiah 46:4
Prayer list this week includes Norma McCoy, who is recovering from knee replacement surgery.
Birthdays this week include: Vester Thompson - Sept. 9, Charlene King - Sept. 10, Nita Beth Hall - Sept. 12, Austin Grice and Sharon Davis - Sept.13, Beth Rippy and Sierra Paul - Sept 14.
This column is short and sweet this week due to not much going on other than COOLER WEATHER! Finally, the pendulum is swinging back... Friday night's storm brought roughly 2 inches of rain and high winds, but a cool front followed, and I haven't found a single person unhappy with this so far.
The New Edinburg Museum will be open this Saturday from noon until 5pm. Feel free to drop by.
The commodities truck will be at the New Edinburg Community Center Friday morning... not sure of the times.

September 4 Edition
"1. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." - Romans 8:1-2
Prayer list this week includes: Norma McCoy.
Birthdays this week include: Marshall Wilson and Jackson Perry - August 29. Buddy Parker and Don Pennington - Sept. 2, Mark Emerson Sept. 5, Floyd Brown and Jennifer Herring - Sept. 6, Rachel Beard and Donna Martindale - Sept. 7, Adam Green - Sept. 8, Vester Thompson - Sept. 9.
Last week's storms brought an estimated eight inches of rain and knocked out our electricity for 13 hours. Despite all the rain, the ground is getting dry again. The burn ban has been lifted for now, but still be careful when you burn outside.
Preceding the storm was a lot of wind, and New Edinburg Fire Department, along with Kingsland and County Line Departments responded to a woods fire started by a downed power line on the Towery Road last Wednesday.
Rain didn't stop the descendants of Lottie Hardaway from journeying to meet at the West Saline Community Center on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for their family reunion. Over 80 family members attended and had an excellent time with grilling, games, and a catered banquet the last afternoon.
West Saline Community Center's quarterly board meeting was last Monday night with a quorum in attendance. First order of business was the acceptance of LaVetrice Gill as a board member. Discussion and plans for the following projects were made and approved: pressure washing the hallway floors and walls in order to clean them and improve looks, the acquisition of a gas cook stove for the kitchen, and the acquisition of a propane tank and an electric hot water heater. Other long range plans will be covered later here as progress is made. The board agreed to shift meetings back to the old schedule of every first Monday of the month for the time being.
There will be a baby boy shower for Heather and Chris Van Duren in the Macedonia FWB Church fellowship hall at 6 pm. on Sat. Sept 8.
