"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  Romans 6:23

Birthdays this week include: Chloe Sanders (July 14), Barry Huddleston and Cassidy Trucks (July 15), Randy Sanders and Lois Avery (July 16), Belinda Langford (July 17), James Shepherd, Karen Thompson (July 18). Somehow, I forgot JoAnn Hall’s birthday on July 2.

It’s so hot I wouldn’t be surprised if we fell under a burn ban soon.

We Eagles are saddened to hear of the death of Linda Knight last Friday. Keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.

New Edinburg Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Tower Road last Sunday with no injuries. NEFD has begun renovating the old fire department building (originally Howard Smith’s garage) by rebuilding the bay doors.

The oven-like heat didn’t stop the attendees of the 2015 All School Reunion at the West Saline Community Center last Saturday. The old school doors opened to welcome 78 former students and family into the AC with a potluck spread to rival any Baptist church potluck. This year, 11 of the 20 members of Class of ’65 met. Mrs. Frankie Hall reports that $365 was raised for the WSCC to buy much needed additional tables.

Attendees of the Class of ’65 Reunion were: Bobbie Briant Saunders, James Weeks, Nell Thompson Brown, Sharon Burnett Russell, Ronnie King, Barbara Brown Taylor, Barbara Russell Chance, Ronnie Bryant, Wayne Clements, Juanita Clements Branson, Judy Wagnon Simmons.

The total roll call for the 2015 All School Reunion was: Sue Noble, James Boney, Sue Gibson, Frankie Hall, Pattie Campbell, Don Langford, Margaret Carlisle, Nell Rose Brown, Floyd Brown, Bobby Erwin, Wayne Clements, Wanda Clements, Bobby Hopper, Anne Hopper, Martha Cook, Donna King, Beth King, Ronnie King, Debbie Morales, Judy Spakes, Rex Trammell, Pam Trammell, Sue Sisson, Mongolia Beck, Norma McCoy, Laverne Thompson, Clyde Thompson, Austin Hopper, Tracy Brashears, Judy Simmons, Marnell Parker, Donnie Wagnon, Ronnie Bryant, Jimmy Reaves, Ollie Faye Harris, Carrie Hudson, Thomas Sanders, Bobbie Dunlap, Linda Clements, Don Gavin, Bill Watts, Betty Grace, Walter Ernest, Jason Hall, Carrie Hall, Saydee Hall, Tate Hall, Kathleen Harris, Carroll Harris, Iva Nell Adams, Paul Adams, Perry Dyer, Juanita Clements, Wanda Sue Arrowood, Sybil Brown, Bobby Taylor, Barbara Taylor, Norma Hensley, Sallie Wolfgang, Ken Simmons, Sharon Russell, Bobby Avery, Roy Lee Broughton, Leonard McClellan, Mary McClellan, Leon Trammell, James Atkins, Jean Atkins, Mildred Brown, Raymond Brown, Linda McDaniel, James Weeks, Bobbie Moseley, Clyde Moseley, Bobbie Saunders, Marion Apple, Barbara Chance, Macy York.

Meanwhile, across town at the New Edinburg Community Center, Republicans gathered to… I guess congratulate each other for being Republicans. I could never get the straight story on that, but some of them wandered into the school lost and were redirected. NECC definitely needs a road sign.

Robert Dale Thompson reports being briefly re-hospitalized in Little Rock following an altercation at his home. He would like to thank the family and friends who have been looking out for him, and especially thanks friend Steve Turner for helping clean up Robert Dale’s garden.

If you have stuff you want in this column, please get it to me before Monday for inclusion in that week's column.  This column will appear on the internet at http://WeAreTheEagles.blogspot.com.  Go Eagles.
