The Burks-Briant Reunion will be in the cafeteria of the West Saline Community Center (that's the old school buidling) this August 13 starting at 10am.
The New Edinburg Museum will be open this Sunday from 1pm to 5pm. All are welcome and there is no admission charge. Old NEHSers are showing a great interest in the newly acquired NEHS yearbooks donated by John Stewart, and I confess to have spent several hours myself closely studying them. I spotted a picture in the late 1970s of some high school students standing on the monkey bars, but the bars are located on a place on the grounds where they never were, so I think it must be a trick shot. I'm on the downslope toward tiling the floor.
The Last Ten Year Reunion has been moved to Oct. 8 due to a scheduling problem with the organizer. This is the final set date, and the reunion will be from 4pm to 8:30pm. It revolves around the classes of 1975 to 1985, the last ten senior classes of NEHS, but is completely open to anyone who attended NEHS at any time. Let me repeat that: anyone who attended NEHS at any time is welcome through the doors. The meal will be potluck, so if you can cook, bring something good, and if you're like me and can't cook then think about bringing paper plates, cokes, napkins, or whatever. Let's get together, see some friends we haven't seen in decades, and have a good time. I hope to see you there.
Mrs. Rita Parham spent last week in Oregon visiting family while her daughter stayed with Mr. Pat Parham.
If you're on the internet and don't belong to FaceBook, you should be. It's a fantastic resource for finding old friends and sharing information. I recently started a FaceBook page called "You Probably Went To New Edinburg Schools If..." and several dozen of us Eagles are having a great time reliving old school memories. Remember Chuckwagons and Nutty Buddies for a dime each? Remember Dugan Word buying candy for the little kids? Remember when class began each morning with the Pledge of Allegiance and the teacher reading a chapter from the Bible? We've been talking about these things and more, so if you're an Eagle and you're on the net, please join us!
I visited with Mr. Danny Myers last Saturday. He showed me the fantastic renovations he's accomplished on the old Mary Frey home.
