Romans 14:8 "For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's."
Prayer list for this week includes: Buddy Reaves, James Granderson, Ouita Trammell, Ollie Fae Harris, Harold Rice and the family of Nell Thompson.
Buddy is reported to be not doing very well. By the time you read this, he will have had part of his left leg amputated due to blood clots. Ollie Fae Harris' leukemia is in remission.
Birthdays this week include: Sammy Pipes (Aug 15) and James Weeks (Aug 17).
Happy anniversary to Gilbert and Cheryl Moring (Aug 14). Jason McClellan and Ashley Williams were wed last Thursday. Congratulations go to them.
Museum news: James Weeks donated a copy of the NEHS 1962 yearbook. The yearbook collection is almost complete with the exception of years 1952-1956. If you have a copy of any one of those years and would like to give it, please contact me at your leisure. Thanks to Mr. Weeks for his kind donation. The museum will be open this Sunday from 1pm to 5pm.
Sheila Long briefly visited with her mother Patricia Huddleston last week while on her way to see her newest grandchild.
The Thompson Reunion will be on August 27 at Reaves Cemetery starting at 10am. The Reaves Cemetery Homecoming will be on August 28 in the same place starting at 10:30am.
Locals Derrick Sims and Alaina Sims will be filming their movie "Come Morning" in the area in October. They are looking for a used pick up from the years 1960-1979 to use as a prop for the movie and are willing to pay up to $1000 for it depending on the quality. If you know of such an item, please email her at alainasims@hotmail.com or contact her sister Kristin at 352-5352.
The Last Ten Year Reunion will be on Oct. 8. from 4pm to 8:30pm in the school cafeteria. It revolves around the classes of 1975 to 1985, the last ten senior classes of NEHS, but is completely open to anyone who attended NEHS at any time. Let me repeat that: anyone who attended or taught at NEHS at any time is welcome through the doors. The meal will be potluck, so if you can cook, bring something good, and if you're like me and can't cook then think about bringing paper plates, cokes, napkins, or whatever.
If you have items of interest you would like to see in this column, get them to me by Monday 5pm in order for it to appear in that week's edition. Right now I'm in the process of switching cellphones but my email is jamescboney@gmail.com. For those who don't use email, my mailing address is 5580 Hwy 8, New Edinburg, AR 71660. Go Eagles.
