July 30 Edition

"14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."  Matthew 5:14-16
Birthdays this week include: Adam Young (July 31).

First Baptist Church reports its Vacation Bible School went over well with lots of children attending.  Plans are afoot for next year's VBS.  As a child, I always looked forward to VBS and it was considered a big summer event.  Here's praying it takes on that status once again.

There will be a benefit for Amy Pilkington Murphy (daughter of Annette Miller Luff) at the New Edinburg Community Center on August 10th. Amy is suffering from cancer at the age of 28.  It starts with a washer tournament at 2pm, $20 per person with a cash prize to the winning team. Deadline for entry is July 31st. Contact Jennifer Hendrix. At 3pm, there will be a Gospel Explosion with Faint Yet Pursuing (Beech Grove Church's youth praise band) and New Reason. At 5pm, there will be a BBQ at $10 per plate. At 6pm there will be a live auction, and at 8pm there will be a live band the Pennington Brothers.  Please everyone come to this worthy cause.

If you have stuff you want in this column, please get it to me before Monday for inclusion in that week's column.  Go Eagles.
